Building friendship

Friendship is unfinished business

Some build their castle and keep building

Some of us got caught in the rubble;

Of collapse and trouble.

Others will reach for the sky

And believe every lie.

Some of us just Burst the bubble.

The friendship of fools is a gold rush

A prospecting

Collecting a coiterie

A menagerie of well wishers and prospective partners.

Eggs in one basket are soon dropped and broken.

I hang on to every word spoken

Look for an opening and hope beyond hoping.

Rejected yet again or maybe even simply ignored. Yes the friendship of fools leaves your best intentions floored.

Don't close the door , just yet.

Room for one more, you bet.

True friendship began when I stopped making a plan.

Look around;

What you see is what you get.

Crack a smile

You knew me when I had no words.
Between prods and jibes , I would grin.
Behind that smile,
Was all the things we could have been.
Whether we lived it or not,
The life was all there in you,
Believing in me and for me.

A smile that cracked the bars of the prison mask,
Talk about the small things without breaking the dam;
You keep them all with you,
Like a grandad with a pocket full of sweets.

I just got tons of grief behind these walls,
And a skin as thin as ice.
That's why I need this mask...

But for you, I will always crack a smile.

Friendship

I just want to reach out to you
To connect
I'm fed up of being on the other side of the street
I wanna be the same as you
Your friend

Enjoy the things you enjoy
Do the things you do
Have the same mind
The same attitude
Share a good time together

But I haven't experienced what you have
Mum and Dad not at home
Arguing, violent when they are
Bad crowd, breaking things, stealing
Don't care if you're caught

Crammed in together
Council estate
Unwashed, uncared for
Broken, dirty toys
No love

I want to reach out to you
But I'm afraid that you resent me
Might hurt me.

Good boy
Clean hair
Tidy manners, polite
Well spoken, well read, well looked after
Interested family, Inheritance, education
Gentle hands

So what have we got in common?
Don't want to dig up the dirt
Drain the dregs
I just want to reach out to you
For us to feel safe together

We both need a friend
Both you and me
And if it's not each other then who's it gonna be?
Who'll settle our differences, make us free?
If there was something I could give you
Something you'd really want and need
Not second hand wealth
Not just shared greed.

Do you know Jesus?
He loves and he cares
He don't put on airs
I'll share him with you
He's everyone's friend
there's nothing broken that he can't mend.

Then your love broke through

The wind gusted strong and blew the clouds away
The sun broke through and embraced the day

I met a brother on the road today
The clouds of my soul were heavy and grey

We embraced and laughed
Then his love broke through
Tears of joy filled my eyes
Like the morning dew

The wind of your spirit blew the clouds away
Your son broke through and embraced the day.
